Staff Profiles

Members of our staff have worked with literally hundreds of non-profit organizations and government agencies on the setup and use of the software to increase their productivity and accuracy. Our team members include: CPAs, accountants and computer specialists who maintain a thorough knowledge of standard financial accounting procedures, developing internal controls, use of third party software, programming applications such as MS Access and Visual Basic, network environments such as Novell Netware, NT Server, Windows 2000 Server, and other computer accounting techniques.

Tim Ziegner, President
Mr. Ziegner worked as an employee for MIP, Inc. the original publisher of the MIP Fund Accounting software application for six years prior to becoming one of MIP's first channel resellers. While working for MIP, his duties were mainly in technical support and later, sales and marketing. Technical support functions involved providing setup, software testing, writing documentation, training class instruction, and troubleshooting with more than 2,000 MIP customer organizations worldwide. Sales and marketing duties included pre-sale needs analysis, product demonstration, structuring chart of accounts and report formatting for prospective ends-users, training seminars, and third-party software analysis.

Tim has worked with literally hundreds of non-profit and government agencies to implement a better accounting software solution. He was instrumental in the development of the USAS interface to MIP products, utilized by many Texas state agencies. He has been awarded MIP's Authorized Consultant of the Year and was part of the Ziegner Technologies team that was awarded the Customer Service Award.

Ms. Shirley Siler, CPA, Software Consultant and Certified Trainer
Shirley Siler joined Ziegner Technologies in November 2003. In addition to MIP implementations and training, she acts as a liaison to the nonprofit community in the Austin area.

Shirley spent several years in public accounting in Eugene, Oregon and in Austin, Texas. Her first experience with fund accounting was with a military community in Wiesbaden, Germany, where she assisted to move the 30 employees from a manual accounting system to a computerized system. After her return to Austin, she started as a Customer Support Representative at MIP in 1992. Phone support, customer training and employee training were just a few of the diverse areas where Shirley applied her combined knowledge of nonprofit's, accounting and computers. In 1996, when the Windows product was being developed, she became Manager of Quality Assurance where she worked closely with system analysts, programmers, testers and technical writers. Ms. Siler has been placed in the public eye at trade shows, the annual MIP User Conference, and MIP User Groups. Shirley worked in Public Accounting for seven years and has a total of 16 years of Fund Accounting experience with nonprofit, governmental, and quasi-governmental organizations.

Keith German, Business Development
Keith German comes to our company with extensive experience working at software companies dedicated to developing products for not-for-profits. He has served government agencies and nonprofit organizations in the key functions of support, training, sales, client relations, and in creating standardized procedures. Keith will serve Ziegner Technologies in various capacities for our entire product line but with a focus on business strategies and development. His product certifications currently include Sage MIP Fund Accounting, Sage MIP Fundraising Paradigm, and Sage Abra HRMS.

Keith graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler in 1993 with a BBA in Accounting. On a more personal note, Keith is married with two beautiful children and he enjoys all kinds of sports, riding horses and volunteering at his church and in other community opportunities.

Ms. Elena Remedios, Software Consultant and Certified Trainer
Elena Remedios assists clients by performing installations, implementations and training services for the Sage MIP Fund Accounting and Sage Time Sheet Professional software. She also provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance, such as installation set up and reporting. Elena is an expert in helping clients import their data into their Sage MIP Fund Accounting system.

Elena has been with Ziegner Technologies since 2002 where she started as the accounting manager. Her responsibilities then included, overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable, preparing bank reconciliation, filing quarterly and year-end taxes, preparing financial statement, and processing payroll. Ms. Remedios graduated with a B.A (Hons) in Accounting and Finance degree from University of East London in early 2002. She had also obtained the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry certification.

Born and raised in Penang, Malaysia, Elena moved to Austin in 2002. She is multi-lingual and is interested in scuba diving, traveling, reading and culture. Elena has volunteered at various nonprofit's including the Austin Humane Society, and is currently volunteering as a mentor through Austin Partners in Education.

Ms. Jennifer Fields, Software Consultant and Fundraising Specialist
Jennifer Fields brings to Ziegner Technologies nine years of training and technical writing experience and six years of experience with the Sage Software solutions, including Sage MIP Fund Accounting and Sage MIP Fundraising 50 (Paradigm) . Her primary responsibilities will be to conduct training classes, facilitate implementations, and execute data conversions.

Jennifer started as a Technical Customer Support Representative at MIP in 1999. She quickly moved up in the Support department and was the first person recruited into the Training Department when it officially formed. She has written an abundance of training material, including most of the Basic Training Guide for Sage MIP Fundraising 50. She also played a major role in creating the training database for Sage MIP Fundraising 50. She has taught countless training classes to customers, business partners, and Sage MIP staff members and has led numerous sessions at the Sage MIP User Conferences and Business Partner conferences. She has helped nonprofit organizations all over the U.S., including the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Goodwill Industries, and Texas MHMR.

Jennifer graduated from St. Edward's University (Magna Cum Laude) with a Bachelor's Applied Science, where she majored in Technical Communications and a minored in Organizational Communications. She is currently pursuing a Master's of Liberal Arts degree at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX. She plans to eventually work towards her PhD in Religious Studies.

She enjoys adventurous vacations, gardening, and various creative activities, such as painting, making picture frames, and writing poetry. She has a passion for books, music, and animals.

Ms. Caren McCrary, Customer Account Manager
Caren McCrary joined Ziegner Technologies in December 2005 after working for National Closing Solutions a Title Company in Sugar Land, TX as a Customer Service Representative. Caren’s primary responsibilities with Ziegner include developing strong customer relationships, scheduling appointments for our consultants for onsite and remote training. Registering people for training classes, assisting with maintenance and support renewals and any module additions.  In her spare time she enjoys baking, writing, dancing, and singing at her church.

Mr. Jay Egan, Software Consultant and Certified Trainer
Jay Egan joined Ziegner Technologies in April 2006 after working for the previous four years as the primary customer contact for 54 Broadcasting, Inc. He graduated from Texas State University in 2002 with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Finance.

Jay's primary responsibilities with Ziegner include providing technical support and developing customer relationships. In his spare time he enjoys songwriting, performing music, graphic design, and martial arts

Ms. Sherry Hovey, Administrative Assistant
Ms. Sherry Hovey made her present home here in Austin Texas in February 2007 after moving from Houston. Sherry completed her Associate Degree in Business Administration and is working on Bachelor Degree in Accounting.  Sherry joined Ziegner Technologies, Inc. as an Administration Assistant. She performs the accounting duties along with maintaining the office operations including invoicing, accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, and other related office functions. Sherry fulfills her life with traveling, reading, and outdoor activities.
